The Power of Touch

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By Dave Thomas Touch plays a very powerful part in the flirting game. If you get it right, a touch will advance your rapport with your date by leaps and bounds; time it wrongly and you’ve lost whatever chance you had. As you must touch eventually, it’s vital to get it right! What you need to do is to learn exactly when you need to touch your date, and in what form that touch should take. You might decide to “accidentally” bump into the person in order to meet them; that a light brush of the upper arm is required, removing a cotton thread that may or may not be there; that taking your date’s hand, and lightly stroking it is appropriate; or, perhaps, that no action at all is needed for now, because your date is not used to being touched! Perhaps you might decide on some other form of touching. You can usually tell by the body language of your date whether a touch would have the intended effect. If he/she is leaning in towards you, seems positively enthralled by your company, and is physically quite close to you, then chances are good that a touch would be welcome. At this time, any touching you do should be kept light, and you need to study the reaction. If you see your date suddenly tense up and start to look uncomfortable, you need to back off, slowly and gracefully, but without drawing undue attention to it. If your date seems to welcome the touch, then keep it going! Touching in a dating context provides feedback for your date; by touching him/her, you are implying that you think the date is going well, and that you fancy him/her. For this reason, and perhaps partly as a test of the man’s confidence, the first touch is usually performed by the man. The woman will usually facilitate this when she is ready by positioning herself close to her date, but she probably won’t want to appear too keen. However, there is no rule that says the first touch should always be initiated by men! For example, a woman who is quite keen on a man may “accidentally” brush up against him on his way to the toilet! Many people grew up in tactile families, and these enjoy being touched more; for these people, it is less important where the touch comes from. For them, a touch will have less power, simply because it is familiar; it is expected behaviour. Others grew up in non-tactile families, and these have to be comfortable with the person touching before they will even accept a touch. If you time it correctly and do not touch too soon, the touch performed on this type of person will have a much greater effect, simply because they are not used to it. Imagine sending a shiver down the spine of your date by touching him/her at the right moment! If you’re a man on a typical dinner date, you would be well-advised to look out for this specific sign from the woman you’re with. These are situations where she is keen on you, and demonstrates this by laying one of her arms across the table, so that her hand is on “your” side of it. Her arm and hand then remain quite still. If this happens, you need to take action and touch her hand, if you want to advance the flirting game! Don’t think about it too much; just do it. If you’re a woman on a typical dinner date, and don’t want to seem too eager, you’ll want to position one of your arms as I have outlined above. Along with good eye contact, a slight smile, and perhaps even a lick of your lips, these are excellent signs to send that you’re ready to crank the flirting up a notch! Wedding Dress Trends - Top Wedding Dress Styles for the Modern Bride

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Cori Locklin Weddings are all about personal style. Reflecting the overall trend of breaking away from tradition and steadfast rules, modern brides are choosing wedding gowns that reflect their personality and visionnot necessarily their grandmother’s. The only rule for wedding dress style these days is to choose a style that suits you. Whether that means wearing a gold wedding dress, trouser suit or sundress, go with it! And even if you are more traditional and have always envisioned yourself as the fairy princess in the white satin ballgown, you needn’t worry about being perceived as old fashioned or “not with the times.” The modern “rule” for wedding dress style is to choose something that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful on your most special day. The 21st Century Bride - That said, although certain traditional dress styles are always popular, bridal fashion does follow mainstream fashion to some extent. So if you are looking for something a little more contemporary or “now,” consider turning to the catwalks for inspiration. The currently popular 20sand floralstyle dresses can be easily incorporated into a wedding dress. Accessories, such as chandelier earrings, can also transfer from the catwalks to comprise your wedding look. Try to avoid fashion that will date quickly, however, as you will want to display your wedding photographs for a long time. As a general rule, keep your wedding ensemble fashionably forward, not overly trendy. Today’s Hot Wedding Dress Trends: Add Some Color - Using a wedding dress to bring out a colorful personality, modern brides are not afraid to add a splash of color to the traditional white gown. Whether that means adding a colored ribbon or piece of jewelry or foregoing the white wedding dress all together, today’s brides find inventive ways to incorporate color into their wedding attire. Particularly popular shades are blue, pink, cappuccino and champagne. Lace Up - Lace has made a recent comeback, exuding a look vintage romance that is feminine, yet not overdone. Many brides are enchanted by lace, envisioning a majestic day in a lush green garden. Magnificent Embroidery - For an ultra elegant, opulent feel, glamour girls savor wedding gowns adorned with intricate hand-embroidered details. This look warrants grand chandeliers, candlelight and an isle of red roses. Ultra-Feminine - As seen on the runway, feminine details are making a big impact. Ribbons, ruffles, flowers and bows are finding their way back onto wedding dresses and taking femininity to a new level. Brides who envision themselves floating along the cobblestones of a historic mansion will love this look. Is It Relationship … Or Is It Religion?

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

By Karen Wolff If you were to count up all the Christian “religions”, and their individual sects, branches, and other divisions, you’d probably retire before you even found them all. Why is it so difficult for people to agree about what to believe about faith issues? Whenever there is even the slightest difference in those beliefs among people, another “religion” springs up to add to the growing list. What started over 2000 years ago by somebody who simply told people the most important thing they can do is to love God more than anything, and to treat people right, has become this tremendously complicated, overly interpreted set of rules, regulations, laws, and oh yes…….obligations. Each group interprets differently, each group believes differently, and consequently, you have more Christian “religions” than you can count. This is not to say that organized religion is a bad thing. That most certainly is not the case. Organized religion provides tremendous resources and opportunities to grow in faith and it most certainly can be the best way to worship. But it can also become a problem if it trys to take the place of the primary reason it was formed, to foster and promote an ongoing relationship with Christ. Unfortunately organized religion sometimes takes on a life of its own. The focus on following rules and the resulting condemnation that comes from not following the rules, becomes more important than helping people deepen and grow in their relationship with Christ. That’s when you see people participate in services, traditions, and rituals simply because they believe they “have to” or they are committing a sin. It is only when participation in these things is done with specific intent and purpose that they provide any benefit to the people. And it’s only when these things help deepen the ongoing relationship with Christ, that they have any real value. If, instead of focusing on one’s own own religion, people were to focus on the relationship that Christ promotes, and providing meaningful ways to deepen that relationship, perhaps there could be more unity AND more commonality……..and even more importantly, more relationship amongst the Christian churches. Just think how the face of Christianity would change from many different groups that focus on their differences, to one group that focuses on the real mission of Christianity. Ah yes……to love God more than anything and to treat people right. What a concept……… Karen Wolff is the founder of http://www.christian-books-for-women.com, a website where Christian women can find help with issues they face every day. How To Avoid Injury Compensation Claim Dilemmas

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By Mumtaz Shah You then become frustrated with salespeople asking, or begging for a compensation claim? You don’t know them and they want to be your best ‘buddy’. For a while, I guess?! You dont have a clue about their company, what they do and how they complete. But you’re about to make a mistake, thanks to their sweet talk An injury claim service is something we need in society. A service, we may not need right now, but could surely need it in the future. It’s just like insurance we pay a premium for an intangible item. A premium to cover costs of an accident that ‘might happen’, not ‘will happen’. Compensation claims is nothing new, its been going on for years. However, as time goes by, procedures and conditions change. Sometimes for the better but not always! Loan Agreements Loan agreements came about, with banks, large banks such as RBS, funding a personal injury claim. It wasn’t needed for a claim, but handlers were making money, substantial amounts, per case. As the clock ticked, people caught on and slowly found its way to the back door. But not completely with every company, so beware! Once service providers figured out the lack of business generation due to the use of loan agreements, they needed something new. A new direction to help them to be more profitable another business strategy! Anyway, back to the drawing board and after weeks of playing with the small print, the birth of kick backs came alive! Kick backs? A kick back is a term used by claim handlers to receive money from a claimants compensation. This is a service charge, administration or management fee for maintaining the clients so called ‘best interest’. It’s just an alternative scheme to loan agreements. However the amount deductible was dependable on different factors. This was working perfectly, until large amounts became deductible by different companies. Some were charging four figure sums and for the claimant, it got annoying! Injury compensation claims began spreading like a forest on fire, many setting up and deducting smaller management fees to get business. It got smaller and smaller, then ‘bang’ it began saturating. Why? People caught up AGAIN… Still going on today, however for some, it was back to the drawing board! Brainstorming sessions now lasted months leading to 6 then 12 months, as something tactical was required. Then a new baby was born… 100% Compensation It was fantastic and worked like a charm, well only in the eyes of claim companies The answer to everyone’s question, ‘give me all my compensation money or Im not giving you my personal injury claim?’ In the beginning, it was like a dream come true, until right at the end of the case, ‘boom’ this time more deductions. But how you may ask? Once an injury claim is settled, the specialist pays out 100% compensation, as promised. But the disclosure of deductions after a case is your job to ask, before a company commences in the initial stages. So How Do You Avoid These Dilemmas? ASK!!! Ask if there is a loan agreement in place? No… then proceed. Ask if there is any kick back in place? No… then proceed. Ask if you get ‘all’ of the compensation money (i.e. 100% Compensation)? No… perfect. Now this is how you erase dilemmas to get ALL the money for your injury claim… by asking! It’s easy to claim injury compensation, if you ask! The 12 ‘Revolutions’ were created to put all your compensation in your pocket. Thanksgiving Dinner and The Green Bean Casserole

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By June Carr You have a decision to make this holiday season, are you going to eat nutritionally, keeping those calories in check or throw caution to the wind and have an extra piece of pumpkin pie? I considered titling this article… Uncle Bill and The Second Piece of Pumpkin Pie, but he swore hed disown me if I did. Settling on the tamer choice Thanksgiving Dinner and The Green Bean Casserole, I began to wonder if one could have a satisfying (for everyone involved) Thanksgiving dinner, while also making the meal nutritious. These views may seem diametrically opposed, but with a bit of planning, its possible to have the best of both worlds. Our plan is to prepare a meal that is both enjoyable to eat, and nutritional sound, something you are proud of, and your guests… well theyll be asking for seconds. Variety is the spice of life, and its no different on Thanksgiving. While turkey is the tradition, lets build some variety into our meal. Not only will this provide your guests with a culinary delight, youll also be giving them a feast for their eyes. So what does that mean? Well one of my favorites and standard Thanksgiving fare is the green bean casserole. The recipe is fairly standard; mushroom soup, 3 or 4 cups of green beans, a little pepper, milk and, to kick up the calories a notch, a brimming cup or more of French fried onions. Seasonings to taste could be garlic, onions, parsley, sprinkled with bread crumbs. Depending on how you personalize things, the calories per serving arent that bad, anywhere from 80 to 100. Seconds anyone? While that sounds great (Im getting hunger pangs) consider also a green bean salad. It fits with tradition, while giving your guests a choice of something different. Prep is a snap; green beans, boiling salt water (sea salt of course), a touch of vinegar, a little vegetable oil, onions (dont let them catch you crying), some dill and a wee bit of sugar. Having variety will encourage your guests to sample small portions (they simply have to taste those yams), instead of loading up on one high calorie yummy. Preparing your meal this way provides complex nutrients and scintillating flavors to please the discriminating palate. Go slow. It always amuses me to listen as conversations go from animated to silence as the meal is served. Then pick up again as the plates are cleaned. Uncle Bill (name changed to protect my uncles ego) heads back for seconds, while the kids start eyeing the pumpkin pie and cool whip. Instead of rushing toward the second helping or desert, encourage some conversation, thus slowing things down. Why? It gives your brain time to catch up. It takes approximately 15 minutes for your brain to process the information that you are full and satisfied. If during those 15 minutes you have that second piece of pie, or heaping helping of dumplings, youll find yourself stuffed and uncomfortable. While were all thankful for the food, take a moment to be thankful for your family and friends and the blessings weve received throughout the year. Family and friends are the true spice and variety of life. When you have food, remember those who are hungry. Sedu Beauty Tips: The Dos and Don’ts of Hair Brushing

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

By Skye Willows Hair brush is one of the most essential tools every person, man or woman, should have. Hair brush helps dealing with tangles and bed hair look; to some extend it even solves the problem of hair styling. But the greatest thing that can be done with a hair brush is keeping our hair naturally moisturized as you transfer natural skin oil from the roots to the tips of the hair when brushing. To help your hair grow healthy and shiny, you should brush your hair every day with careful gentle strokes that decrease the friction and smooth the hair scales. Harsh and rough brushing will only increase the damage to your hair. Moreover, such brushing increases the amount of pulled out hairs in two times. The use of proper hair brush is essential for sedu hairstyles as it helps to avoid unnecessary damage, eliminates static electricity, and adds shine and smoothness to the hair. There are several hair brushes that should be at hand when creating and maintaining your sedu hairstyles: 1. Wide-toothed comb for detangling hair after and before washing. Every time you are preparing to wash your hair you should make a detangling first. This will help you lessen the risk of mechanical damage during washing and make the after-washing detangling easier, thus eliminating more mechanical damage. Such combs should be of antistatic material, so read labels carefully and make sure you won’t harm your hair with poor quality product. 2. Fine-toothed tailed comb for styling. You should use this comb when making heat straightening using a flat iron. Just follow the flat iron with fine-toothed comb to make sure that there are no tangles and frizz left in your hair after straightening. The tail of the comb will be handy in creating prom hair styles and dividing hair in separate tresses for straightening; 3. Massaging wooden hair brush that will help you to massage scalp after you detangled the hair and are preparing to sleep. Usage of this brush at least twice a week will help you increase the blood circulation in the scalp and improve the state of the hair cuticle after a couple of months of usage; 4. Boar bristle round brush for styling. This hair brush is a must for short to medium hair styles. It helps to obtain neat and sleek hairstyle. Boar bristles eliminate frizz and add shine to your hair; 5. Ceramic styling hair brush is good for medium to long hair styles because it helps to manage long hair and eliminate static electricity. You will be even able to create soft waves that will frame your face and make it look gorgeous. The above mentioned hair combs and brushes should be of high quality so that your hair won’t suffer from the harmful materials and faulty workmanship. It is also recommended to wash combs with warm water at least once in two months in order to eliminate product built up. To make correct brushing, follow these simple rules: 1. Before washing the hair, use a wide-toothed comb. If you have a long hair, start from the tips and move gently to the top of the hair. Do not pull the hair or comb too energetically, or you will lose healthy and mature hairs that hold firmly in your scalp. If your hair style is short just move brush through the hair from roots to the tips to eliminate frizz and arrange your hair before washing; 2. After washing DO NOT brush the hair while it is still wet. The hair should be at least dump when you start to detangle it, or you are sure to lose more healthy hairs. Do not be afraid to see hairs on the brush as long as you don’t feel any pain from their pulling off. It is a natural process of hair growth when up to 100 hairs are falling out every day to spare the place for new and young hair. 3. If you are using blow dryer quite often, you should use round brushes of 100 per cent boar bristle for styling of the short hair, and ceramic round brushes for styling of the long hair. Such brushes will make it easier for you to style the hair, add shine to your hair, and help you to arrange the hair into any style from spikes to soft sedu waves. 4. If you are using a flat iron, you should start straightening from the bottom of the hair. Separate the bottom layer of the hair from the top layers, and pin up the top layers using tail of the fine-toothed comb. Straighten the bottom layer of the hair, and proceed with the upper layers until you are finished. Every time you apply flat iron to the separate tresses follow the flat iron with the comb to make sure that there are no tangles left. 5. Before going to bed, apply massaging brush. Detangle the hair first, and then gently brush the hair, especially the root area to improve blood circulation and allow your head to relax after the long day of styled hair. You will see positive results of such technique just after a couple of months. Your hair will look healthier and shinier, your scalp will receive more nourishment through improved blood circulation, and if you have problems with hair falling out, they will be diminished. So, hair brushing is the separate science, and knowledge of its rules will help you decrease the amount of money you spend on hair care products. Moreover, the state of your hair health will improve dramatically and your hairstyle will receive the status of the Sedu hairstyle because of the natural shine and smoothness of your hair.
