Dieting And Exercise To Lose Weight

Monday, April 28th, 2008

By Paul Cris Dieting and exercise done in tandem would help in losing weight quickly. Proper diet with all the nutrients and required calories would help in maintaining good health and along with exercise would help in losing weight. Aerobic exercises like jogging, swimming, brisk walking etc assist weight loss. A proper diet is required while you exercise. Junk foods are not good, as you will be adding unnecessary calories in your diet. Diet rich in proteins and nutrients are required for a person who exercises. Fruits and vegetables should be taken in large quantities. Fat is also required for the body in small quantities, hence you should not ignore fats when you exercise. Though the quantity of fats consumed should be low. Dont ignore breakfast, as this would be a blunder; instead have a full breakfast and eat a small dinner. Apart from abiding to a particular diet pattern, it is also important to plan an exercise routine. Keep track of your weight and gradually increase your exercise duration. Make sure that you are strictly following the diet pattern you have chosen. Once you start seeing the results of the weight loss program, then you would be motivated to follow the routine. Do not try to lose weight in quick time, as this could be harmful. Do not eat less and exercise more as this could lead to a catastrophe. Finding the Best Weight Loss Diet

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

By Waller Jamison More and more people are becoming very conscious of their own health and fitness. On the one hand, this is a positive trend, with many people eating more healthily and taking regular exercise. However, when taken to extremes, this can have negative effects on healthy and well-being. This is often the result of marketing, as advertisements for perfume, clothes, cars and a host of other products constantly tell us, indirectly, that we need to have perfect bodies to achieve the good life. As a result of the increased focus on health and fitness, gyms, health clubs and other fitness centers have been set up all over the western world, raking in a huge profit in the process. Celebrities are pictured on the front of magazines, looking young, slim and beautiful, with the hidden message that this is the path to happiness and wealth. On cable TV, exercise machines, weight loss products, such as DVDs, videos and low calorie foods have pretty much taken over the airwaves during the commercial breaks and have consequently made their way into households all over the country. Thousands of magazine, books and websites claim to provide the perfect diet. Dubious at best, with a new one on the market just about every week, but with so many different approaches on offer, which diet is most effective and which one should you follow? Diet programs can be of use in helping you shed excess pounds, but only if they suit your lifestyle, which means they must be doable. The most important factor is healthy eating and therefore if you do choose to follow a specific program, it is essential to ensure that you do not leave out important nutrients. Next, you must make sure you have time to buy and prepare the food. If you run out, the temptation to eat forbidden foods will be enormous. Its also important that you dont feel deprived and so dont choose a diet plan which is inflexible or overly strict. It is possible to lose weight and still enjoy occasional treats. You should also be able to follow an eating pattern which keeps your blood sugar levels stable throughout the day, ensuring that you dont experience hunger pangs which can lead to mini-binges, which in turn often causes people to give up the diet completely. Whatever your lifestyle, exercise is important, but doesnt have to be excessive. Extra walking during the day and a couple of sessions of a favourite sport at weekends is enough to burn off some calories and help you achieve your weight loss goals. Of course, if you do want to look like someone on the cover of a fitness magazine, youll have to work hard they do! To lose weight and improve your overall health, you should eat a healthy diet, reduce intake of high fat and sugar foods and increase the amount of exercise you do. 7 Ways To Love Difficult In-laws (Part 2)

Friday, April 25th, 2008

By Angie Lewis 1. Be Assertive In-laws seem to have ideas of their own. Out of respect, it is good to listen and sometimes heed your elders opinions, but sometimes its not a very good idea. So what should you do if you dont agree with your in-laws? First of all, use discretion in matters that involve a weighty decision. And then be open and honest about your feelings. Dont try and please your in-laws only to regret it later. Do what you think is best, if it turns out you were wrong, admit your mistake, and go on in dignity. 2. Keep Private Most of the time, especially if newly married, you might unintentionally involve your in-laws in your family affairs by telling them about your private matters. Or you tell them how you arent getting along with their son or daughter. Is it any wonder they are giving you unwarranted advice? If you dont want something to come back and bite you in the tail later, dont involve the in-laws in your private family affairs. 3. Respect Some in-laws like to give out a lot of unasked for advice. They may tell you how to cook, what to wear, how to discipline the kids, How to budget your finances, etc. They may treat you as if you are still a child and dont know any better. In-laws are older than us, but that does not necessarily mean they are wiser. Be respectful at all times, and take what you want and throw the rest out. 4. Detach With Love Some in-laws are so troublesome, it is a never-ending story trying to get along with them. Besides being assertive with your feelings, detaching is sometimes a must for your own mental health. Some in-laws have addiction problems or other emotional problems and this is where detaching comes in real handy. Detaching with love is not allowing their problems to become your problems. You can detach without being rude or disrespectful. Be supportive and loving at all times but dont allow their abuse or pain to cause your own attitude to become negative. 5. Set Appointments Have you ever watched the Ray Romano show? This is a cute, clean comedy that depicts nosy and overbearing in-laws, who barge in without knocking, whenever they feel like it. The daughter in law does not like it that her in-laws just barge right into her home, but she never asserts herself and tells them she doesnt like it. So they just keep on popping over unannounced. She has set a precedent with them that their behavior is ok. Set schedules times that the in-laws may come over so they arent intruding on family time together. This also means that you should never pop on over to their house without being invited first. 6. Set Boundaries Set boundaries in a respectful fashion without hurting any feelings. For instance, lets say your mother in law showers your children with candy every time she comes over, but you dont want the kids rotting their teeth out with candy. There is a respectful way that you talk with your in-laws that doesnt make them feel like you are rejecting them, or that would make them rebel against your wishes. Make them feel appreciated for their actions first, then state your needs. If they still will not oblige by your wishes, keep all the candy they bring over in a bag, and at the end of the year, give it back to them, theyll get the picture. 7. Talk To Your Spouse It is important that you talk to your spouse about how you feel. They are your in-laws but it is your spouses parents. In-laws will not take you very seriously unless both of you agree and stay consistent with them in regards to your relationship with them. New Release! Love The Woman You Married, the companion book to Love The Man You Married. This book explores several main issues that are involved in preserving a happy and purposeful marriage, mainly the areas of submission and spiritual authority. Why are women afraid to submit to their husbands spiritual influence? Over the years, society has turned this issue into something women should fear. Submission is not about control or power like many would like to believe, but about love. Submission is love; if it were anything else than it would not be true submission. Tips for Building Love Relationships - 1

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

By Sten Olsin Nearly everyone claims to want a great relationship with their significant other. But what do they do? Same old thing over and over, and then wonder why it all went bad. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Everything has a cost, whether it’s in dollars, time, trouble or work. And relationships are no different. A good, no, a great, relationship doesn’t happen by accident. Too many people get all caught up in the dizzy craziness of early love and start to think it should always be like that - that weird magic and incredible obsession of the beginning of a relationship. Inevitably, people move beyond it and that’s when it’s critical to pay attention and start building the real thing. Has the passion started to ooze away? Intimacy and passion in relationships is not only important but also a vital part of keeping a relationship healthy. Couples need to enjoy being together in an intimate way. When there’s trouble, maybe the last thing either person wants is to be sexual or passionate with each other, but this is a part of the healing and rebuilding of the relationship. It may be awkward in the beginning, but it is crucial. Do something to make your intimate time together special. Surprise your mate with a warm bubble bath, lighted candles, soft music, and a bottle of wine, or reserve a nice romantic evening at a local hotel with a wonderful candlelit dinner, fine wine, and a beautiful room. Since men sometimes have difficulty figuring out how to show their feelings, here’s a few items that can make a woman feel good:Tell her how beautiful she is Compliment her on her many skills (and be specific about this, it’s important) Try leaving the toilet seat down (sounds silly but it drives some woman nuts) Tell her how much she means to you Let her know that she is your best friend Be affectionate with her in front of family and friends Let her know that you think she’s sexy Despite that moronic movie, if you want to have a relationship with any staying power, you have to be able to say you’re sorry. People fight, even lovers. But there are no winners. If you make a mistake by doing or saying something that is hurtful or damaging to the relationship, say that you are sorry. Right away. Many people struggle with these words, even when they know that what they did was wrong. It takes a strong (and smart) person to apologize. No waiting, say it immediately, and with sincerity. When couples argue, that long period of silence actually makes the anger and tension worse. You need to let your mate know immediately that you made a mistake and ask for forgiveness. You don’t need to drive yourself crazy with this, but pay attention to how your relationship is going. Open your eyes and take stock of what is and is not working. Are there definite things missing or definite problem areas that need to be worked on? Think about it. If you invest in the stock market, you pay attention to what is going on so you can make changes if needed. Your relationship is far more than the stock market but requires some of the same strategies. Being aware can help you stop problems early and find new ways to make your relationship better. We tend to stop seeing things when they become routine. We build habits because they make our life easier and simpler - or so it seems. But when it comes to relationship, intimacy and passion, those routines and habits will kill them dead in time. Surprise, imagination, novelty, doing something unexpected and different will all help keep a relationship fresh. Sten has had a lifelong interest in learning about and building strong relationships. He got tired of dating and doing the same foolish things over and over and enjoys writing about what he’s learned about love, intimacy and successful relationships. Accounts Receivable Financing - Exporting to Africa

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

By Gregg Eberg Several agencies of the US government support departments that have mandates to help you increase your export sales and minimize risks with regard to the sales of products and services to Africa. These departments exist within US agencies such as the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the Department of Commerce, and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. All are supported by a relatively recent law called: The African Growth and Opportunity Act. The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) was signed into law by President Bush on May 18, 2000 as Title 1 of The Trade and Development Act of 2000. The Act offers tangible incentives for African countries to continue their efforts to open their economies and build free markets. The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) has been modified three times to increase exports to Africa. In the first modification, AGOA was changed in to substantially expand preferential access for imports from beneficiary Sub-Sarahan African countries in several ways: 1) The term fabric was previously interpreted by U.S. Customs as excluding components that are knit-to-shape (i.e. components that take their shape in the knitting process, rather than being cut from a bolt of cloth); now knit-to-shape apparel will qualify for AGOA benefits. 2) The definition of hybrid cutting was broadened to include cutting of fabric in the U.S. and/or AGOA countries. 3) The volume cap on duty-free treatment for apparel made from fabric made in AGOA regions or, for lesser developed beneficiary countries from fabric made anywhere was doubled. 4) Botswana and Nambia were specially designated as less developed countries. In the second modification, AGOAs periods for preferential treatment for African imports to the US were expanded. In the third modification, known as AGOA 1V was expanded and liberalized again. In essence, US laws were created to increase US exports to Africa and imports from Africa to the US. Pursuant to AGOA the US organized a U.S.-Sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Forum hosted by the Secretaries of State, Commerce, Treasury, and the U.S. Trade Representative. The Forum serves as the vehicle for regular dialogue between the United States and African countries on issues of economics, trade, and investment. This fosters a unique cooperation between US agencies, African countries, and US businesses that desire to increase export sales to Africa with minimal risk. How does this work? It involves the Export Assistance Centers of the US Department of Commerce to assist you with your marketing and sales efforts to Africa and financial support from the Export-Import Bank of the United States to Banks that participate in and finance the export of goods and services to Africa in a variety of programs. The Export Assistance Centers are part of the U.S. Commercial Services which is the trade promotion of the International Trade Administration (a part of the US Department of Commerce). Their mission is to provide 1) market research in the form of country specific commercial guides; 2) industry sector analysis; and 3) internal market insight reports. They provide trade counsel and advocacy through every step of the export process. They sponsor trade events that promote your product or services to qualified African buyers. They provide introductions to qualified buyers and distributors. They will help settle disputes and negotiate tariff issues. Once described as glorified matchmakers they will go as far as possible to help you export safely to Africa- even to the US Ambassador to facilitate these objectives, if appropriate. And they help with the nuts and bolts of exporting to Africa such as setting up meetings for you with up to 5 prospective buyers per day, selecting drivers, translators and hotels. When you go to Africa to sell your goods or services you will not be making a cold call; you will be meeting with pre-qualified people when you participate in this program- all at a nominal cost to cover the agencys expenses. It is necessary for you to actually travel to Africa and meet face to face to successfully export to Africa. This is a cultural necessity. African businesses do not operate like American businesses where we trust negotiations conducted over the telephone and internet, and often transact without ever meeting the buyer or seller. What exports are needed in Africa? You can read the research reports to find out specifically what is in demand. At the top of the list you will see products that purify water. Africa has a huge water infrastructure need. There is also a great interest in security related devices such as high tech devices to prevent theft of vehicles and increase recovery of stolen vehicles. Textile manufacturing equipment and telecommunications equipment also head the lists. Certain medical devices are also in demand. What are some of the challenges regarding creating or increasing your export sales to Africa? It is difficult to qualify buyers; there are limited credit reporting facilities in Africa; African companies auditing and accounting systems are not world class. And it is difficult to ascertain who will actually pay as promised in you negotiations. To minimize these risks it is prudent to work with the Export-Import Bank and their correspondent banks and insurance brokers for international trade transactions to Africa. There are specific Export-Import Bank standards for short-term and medium term credit; these may be located on their website at exim.gov. Financing guarantees and insurance are available for short term financing in 44 Sub-Sarahan African countries. They facilitate more competitive terms for African buyers. After the US correspondent bank has reviewed and approved you for financing, you can use these guarantees and insurance to minimize your accounts receivable financing risk when extending credit to African buyers. This applies to transactions wherein you have successfully delivered your products or services to African purchasers. Unfortunately, there presently is no way to insure against contract frustration, also known as transactional risk. In other words, you take the risk of default if a prospective African buyer cancels the transaction before it is completed. You are at risk regarding disputes such as delivery or product specifications until they are resolved. And you cannot avoid devaluation of currency as a political risk either. On the other hand, commercial risks such as insolvency, bankruptcy and protracted default are covered risks utilizing these programs; also covered are political risks such as war, revolution and insurrection. The bottom line: you can use accounts receivable financing to export to Africa to increase your sales, minimize risks, and increase your working capital when you work with the appropriate US agencies, their correspondent banks and insurance brokers. How To Fertilize Your Vegetable Garden

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

By Dave Truman Fertilizer is an important part of a successful garden, but using the wrong one or using the right one the wrong way can cause problems. Overuse is one of the most common problems, especially in the case of slow-release fertilizers. Slow release fertilizers are designed to release their nutrients over a period of time and if you apply them too often, you may wind up overlapping the new with the old that has not fully released yet. Always make sure you read the directions for the fertilizers you’re using in your garden. In most cases, they will say how often they should be applied. There are 3 components to fertilizer: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. They’re rated by the amount of each of these ingredients. They will have a number, such as 20-20-20, which indicates how much of each is included. The first number is the nitrogen content, the second is the phosphorus and the third is the potassium. Each of the three components of fertilizer promotes different types of growth. Nitrogen promotes leaf and stem growth, phosphorus helps with fruits and strong root systems and potassium helps to strengthen the plants. Initially, a complete fertilizer will help to get your plants started properly. After growth has begun, be careful not to over-fertilize with nitrogen, which can make the plant put too much energy into growing leaves and stems, making the fruit growth suffer in turn. There are many types of fertilizer available, some chemical based and others organic. Consider where you will be using them when choosing which type to use. If you’re growing vegetables that you will be eating, you might want to think twice before using chemical fertilizers - after all, would you want to put that stuff in your body? Dave Truman offers advice about choosing the right fertilizer and other vegetable gardening topics on the Vegetable Gardeners website. Collect Coins for Fun-A Guide to Coin Collecting for Beginners

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

By Tania Penwell Work, work, and more work is the global mantra these days. As you get caught up in the rat race for power and pelf stop awhile to think whether too much work is making you a dull boy! If you are constantly jittery or anxious, its time you had some time just for your self. A hobby like coin collecting could become an exciting and a competitive sport and do you a lot of good by diverting attention from mundane tasks. So hoard interesting coins instead of dollars for a change! A coin collection usually starts from modest beginnings. For example, you may have coins in your wallet from a trip to another country or you may come across old coins while rummaging about in an antique shop. You can base your collection on country, year, period, or subject. If you or a friend or family member travels a great deal globally, you would find it easy to collect coins of different countries. You may also choose a particular foreign country that interests you, say France or India, and collect coins of that country. In contrast, collect your nations coins if you want to know more about it! Collecting by year involves collecting a particular coin every year of its manufacture. For example, if a certain coin was produced first in 1900 you collect from that year to the present. If a certain monarchs reign interests you, collect coins from that period. Alternatively, you could collect ancient or medieval period Roman, Indian, or Greek coins. Subject collection would include coins on a particular subject, for example, maps, flowers, or ships. Some coin collectors collect by error! I mean they collect faulty coins. These include clipped coins, off center coins, and coins with over dates. These coins are very rare as automation has reduced the possibility of errors. This makes them even more interesting and desirable. You can also collect by material, say gold or silver. Apart from picking up interesting coins during international travel, you can get them at local antique shops, flea markets, coin shows, and auctions. Some coin collectors say that rummaging through charity boxes kept at local stores also leads to interesting discoveries. But, dont forget to inform the shop owner before embarking on such activities. Its great to collect coins, but where are you going to store them? Many people keep their coin collection in a box, but keeping coins all together can lead to scratches on their surface. Its also difficult to locate a particular coin when required. To begin with, you can consider storing coins in separate paper envelopes, label the envelopes and, then, keep them inside a box. You can also opt for small plastic bags to store your coin collection. This way, in contrast to paper envelopes, you will be able to see your coins without touching them directly. However, ensure that the plastic bag is not made of PVC, which could harm the coins inside. When you develop a large collection you can choose a cardboard or plastic coin album. All these storage devices can be purchased from hobby shops, coin shops, or online stores. Before you start buying expensive coins for your collection invest in a price guide, magnifying glass, and desk lamp. You can also join local coin collection clubs and read up books on this hobby. Health Needs of Survivors of Domestic Violence

Monday, April 14th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ellen_Taliaferro,_MD] Ellen Taliaferro, MD Domestic violence is not over when the victim is safe and out of harms way. Its not over until justice has been served. Even then, its not over. Its not over until the victim is safe, justice has been served, and the victim is well. Consider these facts: Abuse, especially repetitive abuse, leaves a lasting impression on the health, well-being, and post-abuse functioning of the victim. This impact lingers long after the bruises fade, the bones mend, and the abuse is over. Victims of violence seek healthcare more often than non-victims. The severity of victimization is a powerful predictor of the healthcare costs generated by these victims. Most healthcare visits by victims of domestic violence are not domestic violence patients presenting with injuries, but rather medical problems that seemingly are not related to current or past injuries. The health effects of violence can reach across the life span. Studies have now shown that adults who were abused in childhood vs. those who were not have more: Infectious diseases Mental health disorders Hypertension Diabetes Dermatitis Asthma Allergy Acne Abnormal menstrual bleeding More heath-threatening behaviors such as smoking, the use of alcohol, driving while intoxicated, avoiding regular gynecological examinations, not wearing seat belts, sedentary lifestyle, and high-risk sexual encounters. The abuse sustained in an intimate partner relationship does not have to be physical to cause poor health. Intimate partner violence and abuse (IPVA) can take several forms: physical abuse, verbal abuse, and forced sex. When Dr. Ann Coker and her colleagues looked at domestic violence in a large series of patients, they found that approximately 14% of domestic violence victims have only been victimized psychologically, not physically. These victims had higher rates of numerous medical problems that the non-abused do not have. Among them: Disability that prevented working Arthritis Chronic pain Migraine and other frequent headaches Stammering Sexually transmitted infections Chronic pelvic pain Stomach ulcers Frequent indigestion, diarrhea, or constipation. These findings pose an interesting question: Do victims of psychological abuse have fewer or more health problems than victims of physical violence? Dr. Coker and her colleagues found that psychological IPV was as strongly associated with the majority of adverse health outcomes as was physical IPV. The old childhood taunt of Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me, is wrong, wrong, wrong. And now we have research to support the idea that it’s wrong. Survivors of domestic violence or IPVA will tell you that life after abuse is never the same. Some experience insomnia, multiple aches and pains, problems with concentration, intrusive thoughts, fatigue, and irritability. Any one of these can interfere with effective functioning and set the stage for depression and even despair. Violence and abuse of all forms is complex and the resulting health effects are interwoven. No single approach cures all. Medical help for domestic violence victims and survivors exists but is scattered. Appropriate care is often difficult to find and access, but it can be done. Healthcare providers and survivors must learn to work together to secure the best state of health possible for survivors of domestic violence. My recent book on using expressive writing to help resolve lingering health issues offers one way to give aid to survivors and their supporters. Professional Pond Kits Provide Comprehensive Solution For Water Garden Projects

Friday, April 11th, 2008

By Gerry Fung Two essential components of a professional water garden include a skimmer and a high-end waterfall filter. A pond skimmer helps to keep debris, such as leaves and twigs, off the surface of the pond. This is extremely important because decaying leaves not only create toxic by-products, but also encourage the growth of algae. This is because decay increases the nutritional value of the water in the pond, which provides a rich source of nutrition to algae. Proper filtration is the other essential requirement for any pond. A proper pond filter should include both mechanical and biological filtration to remove large particles and encourage the growth of beneficial bacteria. Beneficial bacteria helps to convert fish waste into harmless fertilizer, which can be consumed by your pond plants. The existence of a proper biological filter will help to encourage the growth of this bacteria, which is essential if you wish to raise any fish or aquatic life in your pond. There are several pond kits that fulfill these requirements. For example, MicroPond kits include a pump, liner, underlay, filtration media, and both a skimmer and bio waterfall filter. These kits come complete with all the required accessories in order to transform your backyard into a spectacular work of art. The kits skimmer Trap Basket has a large filter that is easily removable for cleaning and maintenance. There is also a secondary filter mat used for secondary filtration prior to reaching the pump. The kits Bio Waterfall Filter not only helps you to create a waterfall, but it also includes both removable biological and mechanical filters, and 2 activated charcoal pouches. The charcoal filtration units have an extremely high surface area and when placed in the water bind, and thus remove harmful chemicals such as bacterial toxins. Poisonous toxic molecules physically adhere to the activated charcoal and stick to it until they are completely destroyed. Before you start planning your garden pond, make sure you have all the necessary materials. The most affordable way to ensure this is to check online for professional pond kits that meet your requirements. Pond kits usually provide most or all of the basic materials required to install a pond, at a discounted price. Purchasing a pond kit also reduces the risk of mistakes that are often associated with purchasing the incorrectly-sized equipment. Have you ever tried to return liner, after its been cut up? Or a pump, after you have run water through it? Good luck convincing a retail outlet that it came like that! Good luck with your garden pond , and be sure to check out the MicroPond kit! Go to GardenSM.com for great deals on pond kits. Vintage Sewing Machines

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Alison Cole Sewing machine is one of the key inventions that have helped to shape the modern world. There are many popular vintage sewing machines. Most popular vintage sewing machine companies trading over the Internet are Bradbury, Singer, Jones, Frister and Rossmann. Vintage sewing machines are both collectible and usable. Old sewing machines are still popular because they are well-engineered, well-made workhorses. The value of a vintage sewing machine is great. There are a number of variables involved in determining the value of an old sewing machine; they are condition and completeness of the machine, rarity of the machine and geographic location of the machine. Most vintage sewing machines date back to the beginning of the 1900’s. Most of them are still very popular. Singer machine models 301A, 221 Featherweight and 66 are the popular vintage sewing machines. Of these, the Singer Featherweight 221 is a classic model manufactured by the company between 1933 and 1964.
